Inner Room Prayer

We Believe in Prayer

At the FURNACE, we believe that the everything flows from ABIDING, so this has become our passion: finding Christ within.

“Do not let your heart be troubled. You have put your trust in God, put your trust in Me also. There are many rooms in My Father’s house. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going away to make a place for you. After I go and make a place for you, I will come back and take you with Me. Then you may be where I am. You know where I am going and you know how to get there.”

John 14:1-4

Prayer in the Secret Place

The Inner Room: Our Distinctive Mission

The specific mission focus that makes the FURNACE unique is our call to the Inner Room—that sacred space of communion with God that Jesus spoke of when he said, "the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21).

Jesus made it clear: "I am the vine; you are the branches. Apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). This profound truth shapes everything we do. We cannot manufacture spiritual fruit through programs or performance. Instead, we must learn to abide—to dwell in the secret place where Christ meets us in transforming intimacy.

This pursuit of the King and His Kingdom within aligns us with the mystics of historical Christianity: Origen, St. Augustine of Hippo, the Desert Fathers and Mothers, St. Teresa of Ávila, and Julian of Norwich. These spiritual giants understood what much of modern Christianity has forgotten—that the Christian life is fundamentally about interior transformation through divine encounter.

At the FURNACE, we believe that lasting change comes not from external religious activity alone, but from the refining fire of God's presence in the Inner Room. Here, in the hidden place of prayer and contemplation, we are changed from glory to glory as we behold the face of Christ.
